Motor Snappy is a free information website. You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.

Who we are
Snap Media runs motorsnappy.co.uk and is the data controller for personal data processed through this website.

What we collect and why
Searches
When you search for a postcode, town or registration, we use what you typed to find the right page. Postcode and place searches are looked up with postcodes.io (see below). We don't link searches to you or keep a search history.
Your location (only if you ask)
If you press Use my location, your browser asks your permission first. If you agree, your approximate coordinates are sent to our server once, turned into the nearest postcode using postcodes.io, and then discarded. You can say no and search by postcode instead. Lawful basis: consent, given through your browser's prompt.
Technical information
Like every website, our hosting provider Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser type and the pages you request so it can deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We use this only to run and secure the site. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (keeping the site working and safe).
Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful and how fast they load. It does not use cookies or store anything on your device, does not build a profile of you and does not follow you across other websites. It records things like the page visited, the referring site, your country, browser and device type, and page load times, and reports them to us only as totals. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (understanding and improving the site).
Analytics and advertising cookies
We don't currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we add them, they will only run if you choose Accept all or switch them on in . Lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Vehicle checks
Vehicle check results (coming soon) will come from the DVLA and DVSA. A registration number on its own is not linked to the keeper's name or address on Motor Snappy.

Fuel prices, weather warnings, news and EV charger locations are fetched by our server from public data feeds. No information about you is sent to them.
Cloudflare and Google may process data outside the UK, including in the USA. Where they do, they rely on UK-approved safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Motor Snappy itself uses only one, to remember your cookie choices. Any other cookies are off unless you allow them.

Your browser may also keep some details for the Use my location feature and remember permissions you give the site. These are controlled in your browser settings, not by us.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without cookies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. Because we don't keep accounts or search histories, we usually hold no personal data that we could link to you. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
How long we keep data
We don't keep a database of visitors. Cloudflare keeps short-term logs for security and performance under its own retention rules. Your cookie choice is kept in your browser for 180 days.
Children
Motor Snappy is intended for drivers and is not aimed at children.
